In the Pipeline...

Kepler Peninsular

The trust is currently working with the Kepler Challenge Race committee and DOC in order to source funding to undertake an intensive predator control programme on a significant part of the Kepler Peninsular. The area is currently ring-fenced by the Kepler Track, with this 60km track being successfully trapped for many years by the race committee and volunteers. The difference in the birdlife from this action is significant.

This project would infill the Kepler track, and covers an area of 10,500 hectares. It will help protect a string of endangered species including kiwi, whio, kaka, kea, kakariki, robin, rock wren, mohua and weka. What is particularly exciting is its close proximity to Te Anau Township, so the area will be very accessible for locals and visitors alike.

Trust Funded projects

The trust is committed to supporting local conservation efforts. With somewhere around 500,000 visitors to Fiordland each year, there is a high request for conservation projects to donate to in the region. Trust funded projects come from donations that are not directed to any specific project, or are projects that are being coordinated by the Trust using a variety of different funding and include general donations.

The same benefits apply to Trust funded projects, as to directed funding, for example, donation tax benefits apply equally to all types of donation.

So why not donate right away. You'll not only be helping a very worth-while cause you'll also be adding your piece to the jigsaw puzzle...
